I received a mail to write about my experience of YSP FAOBMB 2025 for a Newsletter. I am honored to pen down my experience about participating in the Young Scientist Program (YSP) 2025 and the 31st FAOBMB Conference in Busan, South Korea, was a deeply enriching and transformative experience, both scientifically and personally. As a Post Doc Senior Resident and early-career investigator from India, being selected for such a prestigious program was not only an honor but also a profound opportunity for growth.

From the very first day at the Prestige Biopharma Innovation and Development Center, the environment was brimming with energy, curiosity, and camaraderie. The YSP brought together an extraordinary cohort of early-career researchers from across the FAOBMB and IUBMB regions, each representing a unique area of expertise—from neuroscience to Multi-omics, Immunebiology to Cancer biology. Sharing this platform with such a diverse group was humbling and inspiring.

Presenting my research on “Clinical and Cytokine Markers for Prognosis in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)” during the Mini-Oral Immunobiology Session in “YSP 056” was a highlight. The constructive feedback I received from peers and mentors expanded my perspective and opened avenues for potential collaborations, especially in the fields of translational medicine and biomarker discovery.

Hearing from global scientific leaders such as Prof. Marcia Haigis (Harvard University) on “Mitochondrial Metabolism” and Prof. Kazutoshi Mori (Kyoto University) on the “Unfolded Protein Response” has provided greater insights and cherry on the top of YSP program. Their career journeys underscored not just scientific rigor but also the resilience and passion required to pursue meaningful research.

Both Session I & II (Bio-Medical Technology Development Program / C-FIND Session) gave us practical insights into drug discovery pipelines and biotech research infrastructure—knowledge that will undoubtedly shape how I approach future translational research. The integration of omics, machine learning, and AI into cutting-edge biomedical research, as showcased during the sessions, was eye-opening and has already sparked new ideas I hope to explore further.

Beyond the science, the cultural experience—walking along Songdo Beach, crossing the Skywalk Suspension Bridge, and sharing stories over meals—fostered friendships that transcended national and disciplinary boundaries.

I return from YSP and FAOBMB 2025 with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to advancing research in clinical biochemistry and hematology. I am immensely thankful to the organizers Young Scientist program chairs' especially Dr. Sungmin Ahn MD PhD, and Dr. Kyung-Sun Heo PhD, for their vision and dedication in curating a program that empowers young scientists in every dimension.

With heartfelt gratitude, I acknowledge the support from my mentors Prof. Dr. Manisha Naithani MD and home institution, AIIMS Rishikesh, and extend sincere thanks to my fellow YSP participants who made this journey truly unforgettable. YSP and FAOBMB 2025 were undoubtedly a big success. Looking ahead, I am enthusiastic about continuing my journey in science—not only through research and publication but also by engaging with global scientific communities, contributing to interdisciplinary collaborations, and fostering the next generation of researchers. Thank you YSP, FAOBMB, KSBMB & South Korea !!
